Hey Mr. President: “Free The Weed.”

As many of you are aware, I do not sell or smoke marijuana, but I do have issues with government control over a misunderstood and misrepresented plant.

Because of this, I have decided to write several posts concerning cannabis to get the word out to others who don’t partake but have no hang-ups about cannabis being used both medically and recreationally. Here’s my agenda:

  1. Renew interest in the legalization of cannabis amongst non-users. Prohibition of this plant affects us all.
  2. Present information that debunks popular misconceptions and myths about cannabis.
  3. Get people working together to create a concentrated effort for legalizing cannabis on all fronts, enhancing the chance of the movement’s success.

I know that some of you will say no way, and others will claim it’s been tried and that there’s little chance for victory. My response to you: Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Last Friday, 9/4/09 was the kickoff date for #WeedChat and the discussion was both lively and very informative. All the members of #WeedChat, a still growing community of legalization advocates, invite anyone that would be interested in the future of legalizing marijuana to join in the discussion this (and every other) Wednesday at 4:20 PM (Pacific).

If you have questions, jot them down and have them ready for the discussion. Send them via tweet, directed @evil_weed. Again, we are looking for people with a genuine interest in discussing the legalization of marijuana, not just a general discussion about smoking marijuana.

#WeedChat: The Legalization of Marijuana?

Join us on Friday afternoon for #WeedChat

If you’ve been on Twitter any amount of time, you’ve become accustomed to the use of hashtags. You may have even come across these tags being utilized to focus a conversation around a particular topic — not just to categorize the content of a tweet.

Over the course of our experience with Twitter, we’ve noticed a camaraderie of sorts amongst cannabis legalization advocates, who most frequently tag their cannabis related tweets with #MMOT. Despite this being one of the more popular hashtags on Twitter, as typical of stoners, not a one of us has taken the time to organize a weekly chat centered around the discussion of cannabis legalization. We think the time has now come and propose a weekly #WeedChat on Fridays at 4:20 PM Pacific. ( A special thanks to Evil Weed for sharing this information and starting #WeedChat).
