Where and hell does this guy live? In a cave? An oil well?

As for the letter he references, the group called Friends of the Environmnet, are NO FRIENDS OF MINE, or our Planet. Calling yourself a friend does not make you a friend - your actions make you a friend. Spreading false info makes you a lyer, not a friend of Earth.

The claims made in this article are completely bogus and have been debunked by great minds! The author is obviousely promoting junk science for the auto and oil industry.

FACTS: BIOHOLS are here to stay. Ethanol is just one of the fuels. Corn is important today to jump start and seed the infrastructure for E85 from lignocellulosic ethanal. We are 1-3 years away from full scale production at $2/gal!

NO ONE IS SAYING CORN IS THE FUTURE FOR ETHANOL! I DON'T HEAR THIS GROUP DISPUTING GASOLINE!

Fact: Gasoline is way out of the Energy Balance equation - not ethanol/biohols. Fact: Gasoline is killing people and our planet with hazardous emissions.

THE SCIENCE COMMUNITY IS UNITED and is PROVING CELLULOSIC ETHANOL IS THE PATHWAY TO THE FUTURE OF TRANSPORTATION FUELS. And will not require subsidies, unlike gasoline.

Take a look:

    SEE http://www.khoslaventures.com/resources.html
    SEE (E3, RangeFuels, LS9, Kior,...)

Looks like the author fails the Darwinian Test... Ha.

The article you are referring to in the DM Register was written by an environmental lobbyist and is a "commentary". It is not a "news" piece.

Looking at land use and corn-based ethanol is important. However, concluding that an acre of corn in Iowa that goes to ethanol results in an acre of forest being plowed is not good science; yet that is what the author of that piece suggests by citing a research article that has been debunked more than once.
